The PADI Rescue Diver course is a very demanding course to take but at the same time the most rewarding course. During the course, you learn how to spot potential problems and quickly deal with them before they become big issues. You’ll be ready to rescue someone in an emergency, but you’ll also have the skills and awareness to prevent problems. In the end, you’ve learned to be a better buddy, to look beyond yourself and consider the safety and well-being of other divers.

PADI (Junior) Adventure Divers who are at least 12 years old and have completed the Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive may enroll in a Rescue Diver course. You also need to have Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care (CPR and First Aid) training within the past 24 months. You can complete this training during the Rescue Diver course.

The PADI Rescue Diver course covers: Self-rescue and diver stress, Emergency management and equipment, Panicked diver response, In-water rescue breathing protocols, Egress (exits) and Dive accident scenarios. For many, earning a PADI Rescue Diver certification is the start of a career in diving.
